This summer's operating season on the Jokioinen Museum Railway is slowly starting. The first charter train of the year was runing on Tuesday morning, May 12, 2026. The train was carrying a small group of family daycare children from Humppila station to Minkiö. The trains intended for small groups can also be operated with diesel locomotives, which means that the prices of the trains are more affordable than with steam locomotives.

After the train ride, the children had lunch at the Minkiö station café and a guided tour of the locomotive sheds. One of the highlights of the guided tour was choosing a favorite locomotive in the locomotive sheds. On both tours, the favorite locomotive was the smallest steam locomotive of the Jokioinen Museum Railway, the Äänekoski-Suolahti Railway locomotive number 1, manufactured by the American H.K. Porter.

The group's train was hauled by the Jokioinen Museum Railway's German Schöma diesel locomotive, which was originally purchased for Nokia's factory railway in Nokia. You can read more about the locomotive's history under the "Tourist information" menu under "Diesel locomotives".
