There are three stations at the Jokioinen Museum Railway (Humppila, Minkiö ja Jokioinen) and seven halts (between Humppila and Minkiö: Kermala, Palomäki, Santavaihde and Vuorela, and between Minkiö and Jokioinen: Salminen, Raemäki and Kirkkotie). Trains stop on the halts at request only. In this tourist information section we have been information about these stations and halts and services close to them.

In Jokioinen the train stops just next to the old Jokioinen Estate. It is only about a 600 m walk from the station to the main building and the park of the estates. The Jokioinen Estates were the grandest estates in Finland. As recently as 1918 the area of the estates was 32,000 hectares. The main building of the estates was completed in 1798. It is one of the oldest neoclassical apartment buildings in Finland.

Other buildings in the area of the Jokioinen Estate include the old cow shed (1799), an old three story goods building (1802) and opposite it the stables with its decorated tower (1900); also the old office and apartment buildings (1804 and 1808) and old brick cowhouse (1890) nowadays renovated as Jokioinen Tietotalo and the restaurant Ometta.

A short walk from Jokioinen station cross the bridge of Loimijoki river there is an Jokioinen Tearoom - English Tearoom, which is open on summer Sundays from 12.00 to 17.00.

On the south side of the Estate, just by the Loimijoki river there is an old hydro power plant, and the Agricultural Exhibition Park Elonkierto.

If you are not put off by a two kilometer walk, you can visit the old Parsonage Museum. The museum is located by the Vaulammintie (Vaulammi road) just outside the Jokioinen center on top of the high hill with view towards the Loimijoki river.

Kirkkotie (the Church Road) halt is located according to its name next to the road named Kirkkokuja leading to Jokioinen church. The church is located about a kilometre from the halt.

The beautiful wooden church of Jokioinen is one of the oldest of its kind in Finland. It was completed in 1631.

Raemäki halt is about three kilometres from Minkiö. It is one of the most beautiful halts with its three roadway crossings and a small wooden railway phone box.

Ten minutes walk east from Raemäki there is the Emmaus flea market.

On a hot summer day you can step off the train at Salminen halt located about two kilometres from Minkiö towards Jokioinen and walk to Lake Rehtijärvi.

Rehtijärvi is a beautiful sand bottom lake about two kilometres east of the railway. You can have an enjoyable swim in the cool water of the lake after a trip on-board the museum train and a short walk.

Minkiö station is the most important station of Jokioinen Museum Railway. It is located 8 kilometres from Humppila station in the village of Kiipu in Jokioinen. The workshops, most of the storage rooms and the accommodation and staff rooms of the Jokioinen Museum Railway are located in Minkiö. In Minkiö there is also the narrow gauge museum with a collection of locomotives and carriages from most of the narrow-gauge railways in Finland. You can always ask for a guided tour to the locomotive sheds at Minkiö station. At Minkiö station you can sense the genuine narrow-gauge environment of the 19th century!

Also at Minkiö station there are also the café buffet and souvenir shop of Jokioinen Museum Railway. They are located in the station's old yellow goods shed. Here you can buy coffee, buns, sandwiches, ice cream, etc. In the souvenir shop you can buy postcards, railway related books and magazines and souvenirs like mugs, hats, posters and T-shirts. Remember that all the postcards you drop in the mail box at the station or in the post carriage are cancelled with the special cancellation.

Vuorela halt is located about six kilometres from Humppila. The original wooden name sign of the Vuorela Halt is on display in the Minkiö station buffet.

Santavaihde halt.

Santavaihde (sand sapur)is the newest halt on the Jokioinen Museum Railway. It is on a location of an old sand spur that was leading to a sand pit about one kilometre from the main line. The turnout has been rebuilt in autumn 2017 but the spur has been lifted when the track to Humppila was dismantled in 1975 and it has never been rebuilt.

In autumn 2015 a lean to shelter was built together with a camp fire place and in spring 2016 a platform and halt sign was constructed. All the scheduled trains of Jokioinen Museum railway stop at the halt at request. You can also get to the halt by renting a hand car at Minkiö station!

Santavaihde leanto shelter.

There is a open fire place which can be used when there is no forest fire warning. You can find the shelter by following path starting from the halt platform.

Palomäki halt is located about 3.5 kilometres from Humppila towards Minkiö. At Palomäki Halt the road going to Rautavuori (The Iron Hill) crosses the tracks. In Rautavuori there was previously an old iron ore mine, as the name of the place states.

In 1946 the local village people built a shelter at Palomäki Halt. It was used until 1951 when the line and halt were closed and passenger traffic was transferred to buses.

About a kilometre from Palomäki Halt towards Minkiö there is on the right-hand side of the track the remains of an old water tower, and on the left the embankment of an former sand spur. The sand spur led down to a sand pit. All the gravel and sand used in construction and maintenance of Jokioinen railway came from thist. Today there is a graveyard by the old sand pit.

The water tower was the only original water tower of Jokioinen railway. Water to the tower ran under its own pressure from a hill nearby. You can still see the location of the water tower from the remains of the chimney which was used to heat the water in winter to avoid freezing, and of the land embankment which made up the foundations of the water tower and firewood shelter.

The railway halt of Kermala is located about two kilometres from Humppila at the top of the steepest hill on the Jokioinen Museum railway, the Hill of Huhti (Huhdinmäki).

Close to Kermala halt is the Enttu Dance Pavilion of the Huhtaa Village Association. Every Mid Summer there is a special Mid Summer Night Express running to Kermala and taking people to Enttu Pavilion Midsummer Festival.

Next to the Jokioinen Museum Railway station, across the tracks of the Turku-Toijala railway, is the VR Humppila station. The station is relatively new; it was re-built in 1982 after the old Humppila station was burnt down in 1973 when the station post office was burgled. The new station is unique in its architecture. The waiting room of the station building was opened for public use in August 2006 after being closed for more than 6 years. The rest of the station is now used by local artisans.

At the Jokioinen Museum Railway Humppila station there is a café on summer Sundays. The café is situated in the old red firewood shed by the local 4H association. In summer 2015 the café is open on later anounced days while trains are running from 10.45 to 15.00.

Just over one hundred meters from the Humppila station on the other side of the state railway tracks there is a small Talvinen hut with a cafe open on summer Sundays. Mr Talvinen lived a long life and worked also for the railway. You can visit his home and have a cup of coffee in his garden.

Just next to Humppila station there is the Humppila public beach at the lakeside. It is a pleasant place to have a refreshing swim on a hot summer's day.

About ten minutes walk from the station is the Humppila stone church designed by J. Stänbäck and built in 1922. In the church there is a famous altar painting painted by Alexandra Såltin in 1899.

If you continue to walk for another ten minutes you will get to the Kauppila Farmyard museum. It is a traditional Tavastia (Häme) farmyard milieu from the end of the 1800's, and open on summer Sundays 12 -16.

If you come to Humppila by car, after your train ride you can head to Humppila Glass Factory. Next to the glass factory there are several shops and a restaurant.

forssa

Forssa was an end station of ex Jokioinen Railway and the predecessor of Jokioinen Museum Railway, Museum Railway Forssa-Humppila from 1898 to 1974. The railway between Jokioinen and Forssa was dismantled in summer 1974. After that there ahs been no rail connection to Forssa. Jokioinen railway passanger traffic to Forssa ended already in the beginning of 1950's when the railway comppany replaced passanger trains with road coaches.

During the Minkiö steam festival weekend Jokioinen Museum Railway is keeping up the tradition and operating free museum coach connection between Jokioinen station and Forssa bus station.

On working days you can get from Forssa to Jokioinen by a local bus. You can also either ride a bicycle or walk from Forssa to Jokioinen along the old railway embankment and of course it is possible use a car to go from one town to another. In Forssa you can find hotels, restaurants, museums and alot to see and visit on your vacation.

One of the partners of Jokioinen Museum Railway is the Finlayson outlet located at Puuvillakatu 4. The special waggons carrying cotton farbric between Forssa and Tampere mills were running on the tracks of Jokioinen Railway. Those VR broad gauge waggons were loaded on special narrow gauge transportation waggons at Humppila and pulled by a narrow gauge Jokioinen railway trains to Forssa.
